the following photographs were taken beginning in august 2008, as rumors of an impending recession quickly became reality. the project explores a juxtaposing side of life elevated off (so-called) “main street.”
perhaps insulated from financial uncertainty, it is another world: ostentatious attire, unconventional gestures, objects of gratification, and sometimes even surreal landscapes and settings.
